State From The Top #5

It's almost the end of the year, 2020 will be remembered where the Spring, Summer, and Fall when historical and significant events have occurred. One of them being my film blog, not to stroke my ego, but I feel that this created an outlet where I can give an honest opinion about film where it can be an elaboration of saying a movie was good or bad. Since it's December, I feel that I should review holiday movies. That's exactly one area, though a feel good would certainly wrap up this turbulent year. More will happen, this year will be in the history books.

With all that, here is the slate.

Dec. 2- Home Alone

Dec. 5- The Santa Clause

Dec. 9- Elf

Dec. 12- The Nightmare Before Christmas

Dec. 16- Gremlins

Dec. 19- A Christmas Story

Dec. 23- Lethal Weapon

Dec. 25- Die Hard

Dec. 31- The Post

State From The Top #4

This November is going to be interesting, not what you think since with everything going on. On Saturday the 7th, it will be my birthday. I’ve decided to do a 10 list of my favorite films and give brief reviews about them. In the future, I’ll probably elaborate on them but, for some I have talked about before. I’m really left in a quandary since I have no clue what to review for the whole month of November. With that, I’m picking a few films out of random that I will talk about. In the event where scheduling will conflict with the review, I will update you guys. So here’s the slate.

11/4- Jarhead

11/7- 10 Favorite Films

11/11- The Lego Movie

11/14- The Martian

11/18- Underrated Gems: Upgrade

11/21- Ready Player One

11/25- Sunset Boulevard

11/28- “New Series” Documentary Look*: The Death of “Superman Lives”: What Happened?

State From The Top #3

Howdy everyone, it's that time again to let you guys know what I'm planning to do for October. A thought occurred that the holiday called Halloween is on the last day of that month. So, I thought, why not review some horror movies. Not just basic horror movies, but the ones that redefined the genre and are beloved.

So here's the plan. I am going to do the unthinkable and do two reviews in one week. Now, I'll do an Underrated Gems in the first day of October, but I have yet to pick which one exactly to talk about. I plan to do it where each week will consist of a decade. The second week will be about the 60s and continuing to the 90s. With the last day being dedicated to one for the 2000s.

This might be a challenging endeavor for me since I'm going to inundate myself with so much horror that I'll be numb to any startling thing. If anything were to happen such as a change in schedule, you'll be the first to hear it. With that, here's the schedule

October 1st- Underrated Gems: Drag Me to Hell

October 5th- Psycho

October 9th- Rosemary's Baby

October 12th- Halloween

October 16th- The Exorcist

October 19th- The Thing

October 23rd- A Nightmare on Elm Street

October 26th- Jacob's Ladder

October 30th- Scream

October 31st- Hereditary

State From The Top #2

Howdy everyone, thought I should update everyone on what's coming up for September. I've decided that for the entirety of September, I will review Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Trilogy. This will be the first time where I will dedicate an entire trilogy for one month. Also, the reviews coincide with the release of Nolan's new film Tenet.

So, the question is why. My answer is that the series changed the genre for better and worse. I feel that the trilogy made Warner Bros. take in the wrong idea as to why the trilogy was a success. And created a pop culture zeitgeist when they came out. I will be talking about it.

Lastly, for the Underrated Gems section, I've decided to delay it and schedule it on the last Wednesday of the month. I will be talking about the animated Batman: Mask of the Phantasm. Just to close out the Bat-themed month of September. It would have made sense to review the trilogy in October, but there are some horror movies that I will like to discuss.

Overall, this is the gameplan for next month. In any event something personal happens, I will immediately update on the change in schedule. With that, I am very excited to review the trilogy and show some insights.

    Thank you.

State From The Top

Howdy all, I’ve decided to update my fellow readers with important updates. First things first, How are you? You doing okay? That’s good.

To add some more flavor to the blog, I will choose a month and dedicate it with reviews of beloved films from a variety of  famous directors. Additionally, every first Monday of the month will be dedicated as a spotlight of underrated films that should be given a chance to be looked at. I should note that when awards season comes around, I would dedicate the month to films that were either: snubbed, not nominated and, didn’t deserve to win the coveted awards.

The reason why I’m doing this is because, I want to extrapolate more on my ability to talk about films. As much as it’s part of my schedule to release reviews every Wednesday, I feel that I should do more to expose hidden gems of films or utter garbage in cinema. I ponder including screenshots of specific shots in films that I talk about in various films. But I feel that how I write is the best way to describe what I’m seeing and how I generally feel about the scenes in the films I type about.

So with all that being said, the change will be established in August. I expect it to be challenging since I’m really going above and beyond to provide more content and to show people just what 4 years of learning and studying film does to a person who really loves to analyze and rationalize what exactly am I watching.

Any updates that I feel that I must address or at least give some kind of hint that I’m still alive will be made every last day of the month.

Thank you for your time
